About Eric Putman
As a “third culture kid” for his early childhood, Eric lived in Southeast Asia nearly 9,000 miles from Indiana and experienced visiting every continent on the globe except Antarctica and Australia. (And those final two remain on his bucket list!) Time living abroad gave Eric a unique vantage point for seeing the world but the midwest was always home as ties to Iowa and Indiana were emphasized. All along the way, faith was part of the experience; “One of the great influences on my life was my father who had a genuine boldness in sharing his faith. In the workplace or in the everyday interactions in life, Dad was really good at pointing people to Jesus. In that attribute, he is my hero.” Eric’s degree from Purdue University’s College of Agriculture was put to good use in Pennsylvania before marrying the love of his life and moving to Washington, D.C. For the next seven years he worked with a non-profit organization involved in leadership and development. Prior to joining Connection Point Church, Eric enjoyed a fifteen-year fundraising career with Purdue Research Foundation working with alumni, companies and foundations all across the country. Along the way Eric and his wife Cara became proud parents of four exceptional children; Abigail, Jonathan, Rebecca and Daniel. Eric joined the staff at Connection Point in the summer of 2017 at the invitation from Pastor Zach Maddox to assist with the business and administration function and participate in the missions direction for the church — and looks forward to encouraging a similar global worldview for the next generation of 3rd culture kids!
